Who Still Approves of Bush?

The Dodger reminds readers that the Bush majority in 2004 was based on white married people with another bounce among white men. By education, Bush won college graduates but lost people with graduate education. The Dodger doesn't want to look for 2000 stats, BrooklynDodger seems to recall that Bush won the majority of white women in 2004, while Gore had won them in 2000 [and the election.]

The Pew poll takes approval before 911 and compares to the present. The full Pew report explains where they got the "influentials" from. The Dodger would be amazed they weren't mostly white.

The 6% current approval among scientists-engineers astounds, although these engineers are National Academiy of Sciences members, and not your average Rambling Wreck from Georgia Tech.

The only stratum with majority approval in 2001 was Religious leaders. Religious leaders probably oversamples white protestants, compared to the general population, since they have more large religious organizations to survey. Anyway, Bush had the Catholics then because of abortion as opposed to losing catholics because of capital punishment and war [right to life ends at birth.]

Elected leaders likely reflects the Republican majorities in state governments.
