Air Farce Athletics Race

BrooklynDodger notes the contradiction. The Air Force football coach is blasted for a racist remark, when his comment was the team is losing because it doesn't have enough black athletes. The notion of innate athletic superiority of a race is hateful because it lends some support to notions of innate superiority of other races in other areas, like intelligence. A strong back [or quick feet] is taken to indicate a weak mind.

DeBerry is quite a geezer looking guy. He's made quite a record sticking to the wishbone when college football has moved to the spread.

In the Dodger's youth, the Air Force Academy was a favored football team. All white uniforms with blue lightning bolts [even though the hated Baltimore Colts color scheme] and the upscale image of Air Force vs. Army or Navy.

Now it looks like the Air Force Academy is dominated by evangelical fundamentalists [media terminologize as "christians"], with more frequent charges of sexual abuse than the other academies. Maybe it's being off in the mountains rather than out east where people can see what's going on. Or maybe it's training officers who pilot a plane, maybe alone, maybe with a few other crew, instead of depending on a dozen others in the platoon wandering in the jungle.

It's scary that the most right wing dudes have their fingers on the thermonuclear trigger.
