Thought Police
NPR this morning described a conservative student group at UCLA who published a list of [they say] leftist faculty - the "Dirty Thirty" and who are advertising to pay students to tape the lectures of these faculty members.
The story is not yet up on npr.org.
One of the targets likened it to Eastern Europe in the old days, which I think was a cheap shot and the wrong appeal. It sounds more like the Islamic fundamentalists during their takeover in Iran, as described in "Teaching Lolita in Teheran." Teaching is a great book; Bagdhad Burning is a great blog describing similar events in real time.
