BrooklynDodger has previously noted the deracination of catch phrases. The Dodger has absolved others of unconscious plagiarism of “Free Floating Hostility” based on the phrase being repeated so often that the source is forgotten. The Dodger was somewhat chagrined to be quoted characterizing an official’s attitude as “Get Over It,” only to find the phrase to be the title of a Kirsten Dunst movie. [Less chagrin for being the title of an Avril Lavigne song.]

Thanks to the Detroit Free Press, BrooklynDodger finds another public figure channeling the same zeitgeist. Remember GWB [we can’t write the full name] daring the Iraqi resistance to “Bring it On?” Guess who starred in that movie? Google gave the phrase over million hits, but the lead was Kirsten Dunst again.

Is she channeling through us, or is it just her agent who picks scripts with good titles?
