BrooklynDodger can’t quite figure out what the Intelligent Design folks want taught. The Dodger’s best paraphrase is “Evolution by natural selection doesn’t explain the biology of the world around us.” By subtraction, the laws of nature don’t really exist, because another force, by subtraction a Deity, can override them at whim.
BrooklynDodger returns to implications of ID vs. sociobiology for political impact. Both imply that the current order – Rich White Men on Top – arises from operation of the universe. Sociobiology allows for tinkering, at our peril, but lets the Ruling Class off the hook for willful subjugation. ID would suggest tinkering willfully undermines what the Deity wanted.
Progressive evolutionary biology, personified by Steve Gould and others, frames the present world as one of many feasible outcomes. People can change the world for the better.
